In part I, I gave some guidance on how to start your anti aging routine to treat and reverse some of the effect of aging (here). While I was preparing this post and the video I thought than rather give you only theoretical advice I should film my mom and show how to proceed. So today’s post and video mark the 2 weeks follow up.
Irritations and skin sensitivity
Like, I have explained when you want to use retinol as a treatment you need to stick to the routine. In general after 4 to 8 days of use you should experience irritations like my mother did. It is absolutely normal and you should keep on with the treatment unless the irritations are too severe which could happen on the neck. This is why I recommend to use products fragrance, essentials oil and alcohol free. The safest the better.
What to do?
Even though it is important to continue with the retinol there are ways of alleviating the signs of irritations. The first one is moisturizers. Opt for a very emollient formula. In the evening at the end of your routine apply a thick layer of moisturizer on the sensitive part. I love the Bepanthen Sensicalm and the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. You can also decrease the concentration of retinol by using less and mix it with a moisturizing milk. I love the Hada Labo premium milk. I talk about them in my video and the product are listed down below.
In the morning I advice you to not use any detergent on your face but do a gentle rinse with water or an hydrating toner. Another key thing is to use a good sunscreen. Remember that 1/4 of teaspoon is the minimum amount to apply on your face.
