La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 serum versus SVR B Ampoule Hydra ⎜Skincare battle

I have reviewed the whole La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 line and oh my I don’t like it. For today’s skincare battle I have chosen to compare the new serum from SRV B Ampoule Hydra versus the Hyalu B5 from La Roche Posay. 

Both serums are hydrating in the sense that they are loaded with humectants (hyaluronic acid) that attract water. 

Hyaluronic acid is the major component of the dermis where collagen and elastin are anchored. When applied topically it serves as a humectant. The more polymerized it is (the longer ) and the more it attracts water.  

SRV B Ampoule Hydra 31.90€

It is a simple but yet amazing formula. It contains 3 forms of hyaluronic acids: sodium hyaluronate cross polymer (long), sodium hyaluronate (medium) and hydrolyzed hyaluronate (short), and Niacinamide at 5% a skin supportive ingredients to boost the skin barrier. There are no irritants in this formula. It is a simple but so effective formula in gel texture.

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 serum 34.10€

Contrary to the SVR Ampoule Hydra, the Hyalu B5 serum has 2 forms of hyaluronic acid: sodium hyaluronate and hydrolyzed hyaluronate. The humectant properties are mainly due to glycerin, propylene glycol and panthenol. Panthenol is a precursor of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) it is a humectant that may have anti-inflammatory properties. It goes well with Madecassoside (an active from Centella Asiatica). All of this looks amazing but are annihilated by alcohol (3rd position) and perfume.  

Notorious allergen: perfume very strong. 


The SVR B Ampoule Hydra is far better and contains the optimal concentration for niacinamide to be effective (5%). That’s a beautiful serum that will help your skin to retain water. Follow it by a nice moisturizer and don’t lose your money on the La Roche Posay.
