Today’s post is the formula breakdown of the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra 8. It is a mist that is meant to be used as a hydrating toner or essence. In France, it retails around or €15 and in the United States around $16. The formula is very simple. I did not purchase this mist. This post is meant to give you my opinion if it is worth a try.
The formula
This mist is oil-free and contains 3 humectants: glycerin, propanediol, and pentylene glycol. Glycerin is a fantastic humectant that occurs in the skin. Propanediol and pentylene glycol act as solvent and humectant too and basically that’s it.
Along with the humectants, allantoin and carnosine are anti-inflammatory ingredients. Allantoin is a well know skin-soothing ingredient. Carnosine is a dipeptide made of two amino acids: Alanine and histidine. It seems to have anti-aging properties and to promote skin healing.
My thoughts
As you can see the formula is extra simple and has 9 ingredients. By looking at the formula this mist seems to be a standard hydrating toner or essence. I guess that the main ingredient that really does something is glycerine. If you have extremely sensitive skin I would purchase it but for the rest of us, I won’t. I found it too expensive for such a simple formula. If the mist was €10 I would try it.
