The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.

Today’s article is a cross between a review and a hack on The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. The Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA is their first cream moisturizer in their 3 “face” brands (NIOD, Hylamide and The Ordinary).

DECIEM: The Ordinary

The Ordinary is a Canadian brand well known for it is affordable skincare from DECIEM. DECIEM has three brands specialized in skincare for the face NIOD, Hylamide and The Ordinary (click me). The ordinary is from far the most affordable but has an outstanding formula. All line from the Ordinary is packed with beautiful active ingredients. Thanks to them it is now possible to build a powerful, affordable skincare routine for everyone.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA formula:

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA is a moisturizer a key element to achieve a moisturized skin. Most often one product is not sufficient click here to know more.

Emollients:

Capric Triglyceride, Linoleic Acid, Oleic Acid

Humectants:

Glycerin, amino acids (arginine, aspartic acid…), hyaluronic acids, sugars (glucose, maltose, fructose, trehalose), Urea…

This formula is fragrance-free, essential oils free and has simple ingredients. The risk of developing, allergy is extremely low with this formula.

I love this formula because it has a balance between emollients and humectants. This formula is biomimetic. It mimics how our skin is naturally moisturized.

This formula is perfect for normal to slightly dry skin. It leaves the skin moisturized but not greasy. It works perfectly under sunscreen and makeup. Read my blog post on the Dear Klairs Airy Soft UV essence SPF50+ PA+++ (click me). The Klairs works wonder on top of this moisturizer.

How to adapt the Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA for dry skin?

Dry skin is impaired with lipids resulting by an increase in water loss in the dead skin layer (the stratum corneum) the famous transepidermal water loss. Oils act like occlusives. They form an impermeable layer preventing water from escaping. A simple way to increase the moisturizing effect of the Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors is to add oil. The Ordinary Marula oil and the Rose Hip seed oils work wonder with it. The Rose Hip Seed oils being the most nourishing. Watch my youtube video (in the end of this article) to see how I combine the oils with this moisturizer.

How to adapt the Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA for oily skin?

Oily skin produces plenty of oils but yet can be dehydrated. The dehydration often comes from the lack of humectants. Humectants attract water in the dead skin layer. A perfect way to lighten this moisturizer without losing the humectant properties is to dilute it with a moisturizing toner or essence. A good example is the Klairs Supple preparation unscented toner.

Your face is not uniform you may need more or less moisturizer depending on your face area you can combine those tech ices to suits your own need. A good example is to apply this moisturizer on your cheeks but mix it with a toner for your forehead and nose.

If you wish to know more and how I do the mixing watch my video on youtube.
